The power of the system

Organizations are looking for talented job candidates. They try to shape, develop talented employees. They invest in numerous training, mentoring programs to keep such people as long as possible. The problem lies elsewhere. If only in statistics. Most organizations, if not all, have the same normal distribution among talented employees, average employees and “difficult” employees.

The aforementioned programs will not stop the exodus of talent. If only for three reasons. The third reason, by the way, organizations don’t really want to admit too much. The crux is in creating a good, proven system. This is shown by a comparison between two great leaders of antiquity: the talented Alexander the Great and the relatively mediocre Julius Caesar. As they say in the Lean community: the hero path doesn’t work. Situational leadership originator, Ken Blanchart, also has an interesting observation on this issue.

You’ll find all this in the next episode of my podcast. I invite you to listen and share your comments.
