I guess we are all looking for a good, preferably simple but effective recipe for management.
Management of the business or function entrusted to us by the organization.
On managing the team for which we were established.
Finally, on self-management. Managing your time, skills, tasks.
I remember when I myself was appointed manager for the first time, my then
supervisor gave me this advice:
– Develop the business you have been entrusted with;
– develop the people entrusted to you;
– develop yourself;
Then he added: just do it in reverse order. That’s because if you are incompetent
and incapable, by what miracle will your team be highly effective. If your team is weak,
by what miracle will your tasks, processes and projects be successful.
I remembered this advice, followed this advice, and still follow it today.
Today, after more than 30 years in management, in various roles, organizations and sectors,
I would like to share numerous experiences. Not theory, because you’ll find that in books and lectures.
Therefore, I have decided to do so with a podcast that will include numerous episodes.
I titled the podcast stream itself: How to be a true leader.
You’ll find a wide range of topics, such as change management, strategy, problem solving,
communication, dealing with difficult projects, dealing with difficult people.
I decided to devote the first episode to the most elementary aspect of leadership:
truthfulness.
